The Honorable Khymberli S. Apaloo

Superior Court Judge

Khymberli S. Apaloo was appointed as a Judge of the Superior Court, in and for the County of San Bernardino, by Governor Edmund G. Brown on December 2, 2013.  She is a former partner with the law firm of Haslam & Perri, LLP, located in Ontario, California.  She practiced family law exclusively for over 14 years in San Bernardino, Riverside, Los Angeles and Orange Counties before first taking the bench as a Superior Court Commissioner in San Bernardino County in May 2012.

Khymberli attained her undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley in 1992 and her Juris Doctor from the New York University School of Law in New York City in 1996.  She was licensed to practice law in California, New York and New Jersey, and passed the bar in each state the first time she took it.

Khymberli has always had a passion for community involvement and public service.  She was a founding member of the Collaborative Divorce Professionals of the Inland Empire, and served as mediator and settlement conference officer for the family courts in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties during the final years of her law practice.  She served as a member of the Board of Directors for the San Bernardino County Bar Association (SBCBA) for 8 years, rising to the position of President Elect, she served on the Lawyer Referral Service governing board and the Fee Arbitration Panel for the SBCBA, and she served on the Board of Directors for Inland Counties Legal Services (Legal Aid).  Khymberli was also a dedicated member of the American Red Cross for 8 years, serving on the Inland Valley Chapter Board of Directors, and the Pacific Service Area Resource Council, covering California and the Pacific Islands.

Khymberli is a third generation resident of San Bernardino County.  Her family first came to Redlands from Waco, Texas in about 1904, then moved to San Bernardino.  In San Bernardino they settled the “Norman Tract,” on Norman Road, both of which were named for her family, and both of which exist today.

When she is not working, Khymberli enjoys traveling, power walking, watching as many sporting events as she can catch, cooking, and most of all, being a mother. Her motto is:  “In thought:  faith.  In word:  wisdom.  In deed:  courage. In life:  service.”  (Anonymous).
